After many years of traveling outside of Japan, Toshiharu Horiuchi returned to his grandmother’s farm in 2016. The family farm was in the Kasahara mountains of Yame where tea production began 600 years ago. Influenced and mentored by his neighbour Ohashi-san who makes our Yame Green and Yame Genmaicha, Horiuchi started organic farming. As well as making excellent green teas Horiuchi-san started making black teas too. Yame Black is a blend of his best black teas (Yabukita and Sayamakaori cultivars) which he has gently roasted for just 4 minutes to sweeten! Delicious without milk but as it is quite a lot of body it has no problem taking a little milk if required.
